22-03-2025, 07:24 PMPermalinkAnother St. Patrick’s Day is in the books, and what a fantastic celebration it was! This year’s parade was a great success, with around 25 groups participating and a lively crowd of about 1,500 spectators lining Cooper Street to cheer them on. The energy, the music, and the sea of green made for an unforgettable day, and it couldn’t have happened without our incredible volunteers.
A huge thank you to everyone who pitched in to make the parade run smoothly! Your efforts are what keep this tradition alive and thriving. If you weren’t able to volunteer this time, don’t worry—there are plenty of opportunities to get involved throughout the year. We need help promoting the Memphis Irish Society, organizing our annual Ceili, and, of course, preparing for next year’s parade. This is a great way to connect with your Irish community, make new friends, and have some great craic along the way!
We also had a blast at our monthly Social Gathering, enjoying food together and our standard amount of craic. We also had another presentation from our own member and tomes-consultant Enda Brennan on the history of satire in Irish culture and its ancient role in our ancestor's oral tradition.
April should be exciting, with Ceili classes gearing back up ahead from our upcoming harvest Ceili come September.
